Apprenticeships
MP Futures is responsible for developing, maintaining and reviewing apprenticeships for all four devolved nations within the extractives and related manufacturing sectors.
National Occupational Standards
MP Futures provides leadership in the development of National Occupational Standards (NOS) and works to engage future generations with the extractives sector.
Schools & Education
MP Futures acts on behalf of the sector in projects and initiatives that help educate and inspire young people.
Minerals Matter
Launched in 2017, Minerals Matter from MP Futures is an initiative designed to enable all employers from the sector to engage with young people.

What MP Futures does
Overseeing matters relating to education, training and qualifications, MP Futures represents the extractive industry’s interests to the government and other key stakeholders.
As part of the Mineral Products Qualifications Council (MPQC), MP Futures is also involved in numerous forward-thinking projects and initiatives and is committed to exploring future education development and investing in innovative methods of training. This includes positively promoting career opportunities within the industry to school and college leavers.

Minerals matter
Through partnering with the government backed STEM (Science Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) learning organisation, Minerals Matter has recruited people from across the sector to become industry STEM Ambassadors. In addition to passing on their knowledge to the next generation, Ambassadors themselves are upskilled and report a vast array of benefits which have helped them progress with their careers.
